Over looking the top rated best and worst job of 2010. You could say that these listings would be accurate in most eyes. Listening to Karen DeToro an actuary, and Adam Henry who works offshore as a roustabout (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=122456786&ft=1&f=1006
) it seems that both parties enjoy there jobs very much. Ms. DeToro the actuary (best job) says she fell into that position due to an overwhelming amount of bills. Student loan bills. Being an Actuary wasn't her primary career choice. on the other hand Mr. Henry (the roustabout) always dreamed about being in that field of work since elementary. He finds different perks in the job that makes it a good job to him. Such perks like being in the ocean, working out doors, and seeing dolphins.
From a Methodology stand point, the way to rate these best-worst jobs were based on 5 categories.
Environment, Income, Outlook, Stress and Physical Demands
It wasn't based on how the employee would feel about working that job or if that was a dream of that employee to work there. Mr. Henry seems to love his job more than the researchers know. I wonder if he knows that his job is rated the worst job to have in 2010. Even if he does, in his eyes I'm sure that he doesn't mind because in his eyes his job is a good one.
